5 Ways To Overcome Anxiety
Hi friend,
I am excited about Christmas for the chance to be around family, give gifts, think about the awesome plan God had in sending Jesus. To relax a bit. I also know it can be a tough couple of days for many or moments that are hard to navigate so here are 5 way’s I have learned rid myself and others of anxiety.
1.) Don’t feel the pressure to argue
-with the thoughts
-if they don’t align with heaven they aren’t worth talking to or with.
2.) Put our mind (thoughts) on things above.
These verses from the Bible have helped me sort thoughts when they come.
-Phillipains 4:8-9 “ Finally, brothers and sisters whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable— if anything is excellent or praiseworthy— think on these things.9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.…"
-Romans 8:6 “The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace”
-Know the “things that are above” by spending time reading the Bible. When I began learning what my identity was as Gods beloved daughter it shifted everything for me. And WHO he was from his word. That way- I am able to sniff out thoughts that aren’t coming from heaven and move past them as I know they aren’t there to serve me or from God.
3.) Give thanks- or -“Rejoice! In the Lord”
-at all times
-it turns our energy / engagement and focus off of us and what the anxiety is trying to take from us and puts it onto things above and the Lord. (Which brings life and peace)
4.) Movement Outdoors
(if possible)
-I love movement each and everyday. Part of why I love living in a warmer climate is the ability to get outside even for a walk each day. Shifts my perspective and I find it easier to put my mind on the Lord, take thoughts captive etc. if I am able to get my blood pumping though my body and outside. :)
5.) Talk to someone who has character traits that you admire
-Share with someone if you are feeling stuck, let them pray with you, it will shift and help you feel not so isolated.
When we speak the anxieties aloud we can catch the wilder thoughts more easily. <3
-I have made it a habit to talk to God about the anxieties if I feel the need to talk them through or let him know the wrestling. Helps so so much. Then I make it habit to listen; listen to his voice in prayer-the voice that is kinder than my own, that aligns with heaven. Give ear to hear what the father has to say.
-A shift happens when we start agreeing with God about our identity, lives, give thanks, spend time with him etc. he wants our freedom from turmoil, despair, etc much more than even we want it<3. Let him free you.
